Q: Are you guys licensed?
a: Yes we are c-27 licensed contractors. Falling Waters Landscape license # 915424. R.B. Prange Inc. license # 370910. We are also members of APLD, and the USGBC.
Q: Where are you located?
a: Our office home-based in San Diego. We service the whole county and offer design services anywhere in the country.
Q: Do you have a specialty?
a: Our specialty would have to be our unique and detailed hard-scaping, including all of our concrete work, walls, and amenities like firepits and waterfeatures. Our Masons are some of the most talented in the business. Every piece we design is custom which ends up challenging our Masons which increases their skill level. We are also known for our uniquely “Modern” landscapes, high quality plant material, and of course the Falling Waters Benches.
Q: I need a design, but I don’t need you to install it, is that ok?
a: While it is our goal to install each landscape we design, we understand that some people are only interested in our design services.
Q: How does the design process work, and what will it cost me?
a: The design process begins with a consultation at the location requiring the design, be it your home, office, restaurant, condo, etc. While you are interviewing us, we will also be interviewing you and making sure Falling Waters is right for the project. During the consultation we will discuss your needs and wants versus your budget as well as site requirements, home design, and existing elements. At this point we will go over our Design Contract (available upon request) and discuss how much time is needed for your specific project. Once we decide to work together we will proceed with measuring the space, continue with the site analysis, and determine whether a site-plan is needed. The rest of the process is detailed in our design contract including our fee structure.
Q: I want to make my landscape more environmentally friendly, can you help me with that?
a: Absolutely. Starting with comprehensive design, we will implement smart watering techniques coupled with efficient irrigation systems, drought tolerant plant material, and smart hard-scape solutions. When possible we use sustainably harvesting hardwoods, low-VOC paints, and always mulch heavily which saves water and reduces weeds. We try to encourage reduced amounts of turf, especially in areas where they don’t make sense. We are always on the look-out for more environmentally friendly materials and approaches to landscaping. Unfortunately these materials and techniques tend to be somewhat cost-prohibitive at times don’t make sense for every budget.
Q: What is Xeri-Scaping?
a: Often mispronounced “zeroscape”, XERISCAPING is a set of seven principles that should be applied and implemented when installing new landscaping and when renovating existing landscaping. There are several websites that detail what xeriscaping is, here is one of my favorites… http://www.eartheasy.com/grow_xeriscape.htm#b
Q: I want to get rid of my grass, how much is that going to cost me?
a: Everyone is preaching removal of turf and installing drought tolerant landscaping. While we agree with removing unneccesary grass, what you don’t hear about are the costs associated with this type of renovation. Many people think this is just as simple as digging out the grass and planting some flowers, but often there are several variables to take under consideration. One should expect to spend between $3 and $4 per square foot for JUST removal and dumping of turf grass. If desired, an herbicide can then be used to kill any left over seed. Then there are costs associated with retrofitting the irrigation system. For example, a 25′x25′ area of turf would cost $2000 just to remove and dispose of the grass. When you factor in hardscape, planting, lighting, irrigation, this figure would represent 10-20% of the costs associated with renovating any given area.
Q: Do you do work out of the County, or out of State?

Q: Can I purchase the Falling Waters Bench?
